Golfing is great any time of year throughout the beautiful Pigeon Lake Region in central Alberta! It will be a wildly, wacky fun celebration! In March Pigeon Lake at Mulhurst Bay will be transformed and 240 enthusiastic Ice Golfers will hit the ice to golf and compete to win all sorts of fabulous prizes. The Ice Golf Tournament may just be the region’s most successful fun winter recreation event. The Annual Ice Golf Tournament will have three -9 hole courses, two on-ice games, live entertainment, and more! Ice and snow and cold may be a part of it too but Ice Golfers are a hale and hardy bunch and never let cold stand in the way of great golf fun.

If you don't already know about the Ice Golf Tournament, here is the gist of the day’s event. The Ice Golf Tournament reinvents the game of golf - Alberta winter style. Jauntily dressed golfers gather, the cannon booms to start the tourney, and Ice Golfers tee off on the great white golf course on Pigeon Lake at Mulhurst Bay. The lake is transformed into three nine-hole courses complete with greens (rugs), flags, recycled Christmas trees, happy hole sponsor hosts, a chipping game, bonfire, hot chocolate, and later, fine dining, and more fun at the Community League Hall.

Winter golfing is not much different than summer golfing with just a few minor changes to accommodate the lack of real green grass and unfrozen ground with holes in it. Mounds of snow serve as tees, the greens are green carpets, and vividly coloured golf balls are easy to spot on the great white course. Ice Golf has always featured a St. Paddy’s Day theme. Costumes are encouraged and prizes are awarded for best team theme and best costumes. A predominantly green-clad crowd is common and goofy get-ups are part of the fun. Ice Golfers have a chance to win a $10,000 hole-in-one prize. After golfing and trying chip shots at the ice game, the fun continues at the Mulhurst Bay Community League Hall. Enjoy live musical entertainment, along with a sumptuous banquet, a silent auction, fun fellowship, and all sorts of prizes to be won for all sorts of reasons.

The Ice Golf Tournament is an annual fundraising event planned and hosted by the Ice Golf Committee of the Pigeon Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce. Get your tickets now to golf and enjoy the day.
